Google Summer of Code
Google Summer of Code 2008 is on! Over the past three years, the program has brought together over 1500 students and 2000 mentors from 90 countries worldwide, all for the love of code. This year, we're welcoming 1125 student contributors and 175 Free and Open Source projects into the program. You can find out more about each participating organization and abstracts of their accepted students' proposals by visiting each organization's page, below. We'll be posting regular news about the program to the Google Open Source Blog.
If you are interested in participating in future instances of Google Summer of Code, now is an excellent time to begin further exploration: check out our mentoring organizations' ideas lists below, our Frequently Asked Questions, and the program wiki. If you are a student, the best way to prepare for Google Summer of Code is to learn more about Open Source development before the program begins.
First, take a look at the program FAQs and Terms of Service. You can also ask questions on our program discussion list, but please browse the archives first to see if your question has already been answered. Many knowledgable folks will also be hanging out in #gsoc on Freenode, so feel free to check there to get your questions answered real-time.
